NDSU Men to Send Five Athletes to NCAA West Preliminary Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The North Dakota State men's track and field team will send five athletes to the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas May 24-26.  The NCAA announced the preliminary fields today. The 48 athletes in each event qualified for the preliminary round with the top finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships.

Travis Fitzke will run the 1,500 meters after qualifying with a season and personal best time of 3 minutes 46.64 seconds.  His time is ranked No. 39 in the field.

Matt Tetzlaff will run the 110 meter hurdles for the second straight year.  His qualifying time of 14.03 seconds ranked 21st.  Tetzlaff set the North Dakota State 110 meter hurdles record of 13.99 seconds at last year's NCAA West Preliminary Round.

Moses Heppner qualified in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.72.  He is ranked 42nd in the field.

School record holder Casey Orgon made the field in the hammer throw with a mark of 197 feet 7 inches.  He is No. 26 out of the 48 competitors.

Jeramy Geditz will compete in the high jump after recording a season-best mark of 6 feet 11 inches at the Summit League Championships.  He is 42nd in the field.
