NDSU Women Claim 4x400 Title at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - The North Dakota State women's 4 x 400 relay team of Antoinette Goodman, Paige Stratioti, Melissa Kitching and Brittany Schanandore took first place at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, April 20.

The relay clocked in with a winning time of 3 minutes 40.02 seconds, beating out second place Colorado by almost four-tenths of a second in the 22-team field. Their time is ranked third all-time in NDSU history.

Stratioti also posted a strong finish in the 400 meters, taking seventh in a personal best time of 54.07 seconds. Her time is fourth in school history.

In the 800 meters, Schanandore led the Bison contingent, finishing 19th in 2:07.17. Ashlynn Simon was 40th in 2:10.50 and Faith Kruchowski was 42nd in 2:10.68.

Kitching was 37th in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:03.37, while Goodman was 22nd in the 200 meters in 24.15 seconds. In the pole vault, Amy Marquardt finished 10th after clearing 11 feet 7 ¾ inches.

The Bison also had athletes competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Asuza, Calif., where two athletes cracked the all-time top 10.

In the hammer throw, Katie Johnson's 14th place mark of 168 feet 0 inches is sixth in school history. Emily Lesser continued the throwing success in the discus, finishing fourth with a personal best mark of 151-7, which ranks fourth on the all-time charts.

Lesser also finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 45-3 ½. Katie Dockter also tallied two top eight finishes Friday, taking sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 38-4 and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 18-3.

The Bison continue competition in California Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational.
