NDSU’s head men’s golf coach for 33 years, his teams won five North Central Conference championships (1955-61-62-69-73) and made eight runner-up finishes...Also served as a football assistant coach and was head coach of the NDSU track, tennis and gymnastics teams, winning an NCC tennis title in 1956...Inducted into the NCC Hall of Fame in 1970...Joined the NDSU faculty in 1942 and built the foundation of the department of health, physical education and recreation...Served as chair of the department from 1947-1966, introducing a minor in physical education and adding classes that led to a physical education major for both men and women...Served as director of the intramurals program for 24 years...Graduated from Southwestern Teacher’s College in Oklahoma in 1928 and came to Fargo one year later as a teacher and coach at Agassiz Junior High...Completed a master’s degree from UND while teaching and coaching at NDSU...Established the E.E. Kaiser Award, which is presented each spring to a senior physical education major, and NDSU’s annual home men’s golf tournament, the Erv Kaiser Invitational, is named in his honor.
