NEWARK, Del., Nov. 21, 2011 – After helping lead the James Madison volleyball team to its second consecutive appearance in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament semifinals, senior outside hitter Holly Wall (Kaukauna, Wisc./Kaukauna) was named to the All-Tournament team on Sunday.
Wall led the team with 28 kills, averaging 3.50 per set on .247 hitting at the CAA tournament. She added 27 digs, five assists, three blocks and two aces in eight sets played while helping fifth-seeded JMU sweep fourth-seeded Georgia State before dropping a five-set thriller to top-seeded Delaware. Against the Blue Hens, Wall had a team-best 19 kills, 16 digs, three blocks and two assists.
The senior from Kaukauna, Wisc., finished her career with exactly 1,000 digs tying her for sixth on the school’s all-time list with Dana Jones (2000-03). In 418 sets played, including 119 matches played and 71 starts, the four-year Duke added 742 kills, 103 assists, 97 blocks and 94 service aces. She is tied for ninth on the school’s all-time list for sets played with Amber Jaunrubenis (1990-93).
Delaware’s Kim Stewart was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammates Alissa Alker and Renee Tomko. VCU’s Cecilia Aragao and Courtney Hott and Northeastern’s Nichole Kurz were also named to the All-Tournament team.
