The road has already gone full circle for Brian Pruitt in his short career as a college baseball coach.

Pruitt is entering his second season on the Stetson University baseball staff. He joined the Hatters in August 2012 after a successful two year coaching stint at Barry University in Miami, Fla. At Stetson Pruitt works primarily with the outfielders, and assists with the team’s hitters. He also coaches first base on game days and is the Director of the Pete Dunn Baseball Camps.

“We are extremely happy to have Brian back for another year in the program,” head coach Pete Dunn said. “Obviously, he is very familiar with the Stetson University system.”

A native of Miami, Pruitt left Stetson following his junior season in 2008 after the Washington Nationals drafted him in the 34th round. Pruitt played two seasons of minor league baseball before injuries derailed his career.

While a player at Stetson from 2006-08, Pruitt posted a .270 batting average in 165 games with 26 doubles, 7 triples, 16 home runs and 121 runs batted in.

Pruitt’s coaching career started in spring 2010 at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia. He was the Head Varsity Assistant and helped lead the team to a school record win total.

Pruitt graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Ashford University in 2010, and earned a Master of Science in Sport Management from Barry in 2012.

“I am excited to be back for my second year at Stetson and be a part of this coaching staff again. After having a productive fall, I feel as though our team will be ready to compete from the first pitch of the season all the way to the last pitch of the season. We will accomplish great things this year,” Pruitt said.

Pruitt is married to Stetson alumna Megan Trombino (‘08). The couple are expecting their first child this March, Faye Doris. They reside in Deland.
