FRISCO — Sophomore Keyunta Hayes was tabbed Southland Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Hayes matched UTSA's program record in the 110-meter hurdles and also was victorious in the 400m hurdles at last Saturday's Texas Invitational.

The 2011 Southland Conference Outdoor Freshman of the Year peeled off a wind-aided 13.81 en route to a second-place finish in his specialty event. The Tyler native, who now stands in a 14th-place tie on the national leaderboard, finished just one tick back of Texas Southern's Sheldon Wilkinson and his time matched the school mark established by Will Vese in 2008. He later won the 400m hurdles in 52.14.

The Roadrunners will be back in action at several meets this weekend. The distance crew will compete at the Cal State L.A. Twilight (Thursday), Mt. SAC Relays (Thursday-Saturday) and Long Beach Invitational (Friday), while the remainder of the team will return to Austin for Saturday's Longhorn Invitational.
