Rita Maisak Earns All-Conference Honor

DENTON, Texas (April 18, 2012) --- Junior Rita Maisak has been named to this year's All-Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Team as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Maisak has grabbed three singles victories over ranked opponents this season, including a straight-set victory over fellow all-conference player Kseniya  Bardabush (No. 60 North Texas). She also defeated Melissa Kipicheva (No. 66 Fresno State) and Dominque Hammoth (No. 69 Rice) during her all-conference dual match season. The native of Minsk, Belarus, enters this year's tournament with a 7-11 singles record while playing at the No. 1 position for the Panthers in nine matches.

The award is the first of Maisak's FIU career. The honor also marks the seventh-straight year in which a member of the FIU women's tennis squad has been named to the all-conference team.

FIU will begin its quest for the team's second-straight SBC title on Friday, April 20. The Panthers will face the winner of the Troy-UALR match at 9:00 a.m. ET.
