MIAMI (May 16, 2012) - FIU baseball outfielder Pablo Bermudez racked up his third major award of the week after being named National Hitter of the Week by CollegeBaseballInsider.com Wednesday afternoon. Earlier in the week, Bermudez was named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week and Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.

Bermudez returned to his 2011 SBC Player of the Year form just in the nick of time for a strong tournament run.  The speedy leadoff hitter had a monster week hitting .588 (10-17) with a pair of homers and 11 runs scored.  He also contributed seven RBI out of the leadoff spot, which contributed to FIU scoring 48 runs over a four-game road trip that produced three victories.

FIU (31-21, 15-12 in Sun Belt) has three regular season games left and they are all at Florida Atlantic beginning Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.
