Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb women's soccer will defend its home turf for the first time in 2012 Tuesday as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on visiting South Carolina State of the Great West Conference in a match set for a 7:00 p.m. start time.

The match will be the first between the two schools since 2009, a game in which Gardner-Webb came out on top 1-0 at home.

GWU (0-1) is looking to gain some momentum versus the visiting Bulldogs (2-0) after dropping its season opener 1-0 at Wofford last week, a match in which Gardner-Webb featured six true freshmen in its starting lineup. Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Schmitt (Waxhaw, N.C.) excelled in only her second career start, tallying a career high eight saves for the match.

On Friday, the Runnin' Bulldogs travel to take on Georgia Southern (1-0) of the Southern Conference in Statesboro, Ga. at 4:00 p.m.

Gardner-Webb closes out the week with another road contest, as GWU will do battle with the Ospreys of North Florida (0-2), a team which fell to ACC member Clemson 2-0 on the road in its previous match. GWU's tilt with UNF is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
