RIVERSIDE, Calif./REDLANDS, Calif. – Playing in its final two games of the spring furlough, the VMI water polo wrapped up its west coast trip with day two of the Lancer Invite.
The Keydets fell in both games on Saturday, dropping a 16-3 decision against La Verne and suffered a 17-5 loss against Azusa Pacific. The first game was hosted by Cal Baptist while game two was played at the University of Redlands.
Freshman Molly Andoe combined for five goals on the afternoon, putting away five in the first game and another two in the second. Senior Sam Farr, who is a co-captain alongside Andoe, posted a pair of goals, tallying one in each game.
Another freshman, Mackenzie Perkins, chipped in another two goals, scoring both against Azusa Pacific. The Keydets fought through torrential downpour during that game.
VMI will begin its very first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference next Saturday, March 24 as the Keydets travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for a pod meet. VMI opens MAAC action on Saturday with Siena College at 11:30 a.m. followed by a second game against St. Francis (N.Y.).
VMI wraps up its first MAAC weekend with host Marist on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. All three games will be played at Marist.
