RADFORD, Va. - Jenna Moye finished second in the women's 1,500-meter run, leading a contingent of VMI track and field athletes on the final day of the Radford Invitational, contested Saturday at Cupp Stadium in Radford, Va.
Moye, competing in her first race since a fifth-place finish in this event at last weekend's Big South Championships, clocked in at 4:38.64 to earn the runner-up spot. Three Keydets finished in the top seven, with Michelle Church (4:50.90) placing fifth and Hannah Dickinson (4:53.43) coming home seventh.
Also in action on the women's side were throwers Renee Reives and Mary Grace Lemon. Reives came home third in the shot put, hurling the implement 12.60 meters (41'4 ¼"), while Lemon placed fourth in the hammer throw (45.05 M/147'10").
For the Keydet men, Dean Gonsalves continued his recent run of success with a third-place finish in the 800-meters. Gonsalves, a week after scoring in both the 800 and 1500 at the conference meet, ran a 1:54.59 to earn the podium result. Meanwhile, Quincy Murphy placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.09 seconds) and Ermin Mujezinovic was seventh in the men's 1,500 (3:58.64).
VMI track and field will return to action Friday, May 11, as qualified Keydets take part in the IC4A/ECAC Championships, to be contested in Princeton, N.J.
