VMI baseball is back in action Friday, beginning a three-game Big South series at Gardner-Webb. Game time Friday is set for 6 p.m., with each of the other two games to open at 2 p.m.

How to Follow

All three games will be broadcast on the Big South Network, and VMIKeydets.com will provide an audio broadcast for each of the first two contests. In addition, live stats will be available.

Probable Starting Pitchers

Friday: VMI RHP Jeremy Brown (0-5, 4.57 ERA) vs. GWU RHP Matt Fraudin (1-4, 3.60 ERA)

Saturday: VMI RHP Coby Cowgill (5-3, 4.26 ERA) vs. GWU RHP Andrew Barnett (3-3, 4.76 ERA)

Sunday: VMI LHP Campbell Henkel (1-4, 5.65 ERA) vs. GWU LHP Beau Hilton (4-2, 3.75 ERA)

Quick Hitters

The three-game set may hold immense postseason implications, as Gardner-Webb is one spot ahead of VMI in the conference standings, and is one of the teams VMI will need to pass to earn a berth in the Big South Championship tournament.

The Keydets send Jeremy Brown to the mound Friday night. Brown has been on quite the roll lately, despite still seeking his first win of the year. The redshirt junior has allowed just two earned runs over his last two starts (13 IP), striking out 14 and walking just two.

Rob Dickinson enters hot as well, hitting .361 over his last 15 games. Interestingly, Dickinson also got hot from last March 5-April 6, a time span over which he hit .365.

Following this series, VMI will take part in games against VCU and Virginia Tech next week, prior to beginning a nine-day break from games for exams.
