A Columbia softball standout, Maggie Johnson begins her third year as Assistant Director in the Athletics Development and Alumni Relations office. In her role, Johnson coordinates, organizes and implements athletics special events including the Athletics Hall of Fame and works with coaches to plan and execute select alumni events for all 31 varsity sports. She also provides stewardship and impactful events for The Women’s Leadership Council.
Prior to her current position, Johnson spent more than four years as an Assistant Director of Facilities Operations for Columbia Athletics (2011-15), where her main responsibilities included managing contest day operations, driving revenue through facilities rentals and coordinating day-to-day operations at Dodge Fitness Center.
She has also spent time at Columbia as a Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach (2012-13) and Athletics Student Manager/Building Supervisor (2008-11).
A Danville, Calif. native, Johnson was a three-time All-Ivy League softball selection for the Lions as she finished her career as a first team utility player and pitcher. During her career, she hit 18 home runs, drove in 82 RBI, ranks second all-time in both doubles (37) and total bases (238), fourth in slugging percentage (.455) and ninth in career batting average (.281). She also put up big numbers in the circle as she ranks second all-time in career appearances (101) and third in victories (27), innings pitched (525.1) and strikeouts (282). She also has the distinction of completing the second no-hitter in Columbia softball history when she blanked Princeton on Easter Sunday in 2011.
Johnson graduated from Columbia College with a bachelor of arts degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics in 2011. She earned a master’s degree in Sports Management from Columbia in 2014.
