Sara Schiffman joined the Columbia women’s tennis program in August of 2009, after three years on the coaching staff at the University of Pennsylvania.

Schiffman, a 2006 graduate of Penn, served as the interim head coach of the Quakers in the 2009 season, following her two seasons as an assistant coach. While an assistant coach, Schiffman helped guide the Quakers to a 28-12 overall record, 13-1 in the Ivy League. In 2007, Penn went 7-0 in the league to claim the Ivy title, and earn a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Schiffman was also a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain while at Penn. During her career, Schiffman compiled a 32-22 singles record, including an impressive 20-7 mark her sophomore year. The Quakers made two trips to the NCAA Tournament in her four years as a player, punctuated by an impressive 4-2 upset win over No. 30 Tennessee in the first round in 2006.

Schiffman, who graduated from Penn with a degree in Psychology, is pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Organizational Psychology at Columbia.
