Brock Malone was named Assistant Director for Sports Information/Media Relations at Columbia in August of 2012. In the summer of 2013 he was promoted to Associate Director.
Malone will serve as the primary contact for men’s soccer, wrestling, women's basketball and baseball, as well as assist with the coverage of football. He will also coordinate the sports information department’s multimedia efforts. Previously, Malone worked with the women's soccer, men's & women's squash, men's & women's tennis and men's & women's golf programs.
Malone comes to Columbia after serving as the Athletic Communications Coordinator at Nova Southeastern, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for the 2011-12 academic year. At NSU, he served as the primary contact for volleyball, women’s basketball, softball, rowing and the 2012 Division II women’s golf national championship team.
Before joining the Sharks’ staff, Malone served as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Harvard for the 2010-11 academic year. While at Harvard, Malone served as the primary contact for women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, men’s & women’s squash, and men’s & coed sailing. He also worked as a secondary contact for many of the department’s 41 varsity teams, including football, men’s basketball, men’s ice hockey and men’s lacrosse.
Prior to his time at Harvard, Malone worked in the ticket office at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Va. and also participated in the NFL Players Association internship program with the Player Marketing department.
Malone got his start within the athletic communications field as an assistant with George Mason as an undergraduate student at the school. He spent three years as an assistant within the office with his required duties progressing to include credentialing responsibilities for men’s basketball and primary contact duties for women’s tennis.
Malone received his bachelor’s in sport management from George Mason in May 2009 and his master’s in sport management from Old Dominion in December 2010. A native of Rochester, N.Y., he currently resides in Manhattan.
