Sean Markey, one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the history of The Citadel, enters his first season as an assistant wrestling coach.
Markey ended his Bulldog wrestling career in the spring of 2006 as the school’s career leader in wins with 125 and career falls with 69 at the 133 and 141 pound weight classes. Markey finished his senior season with a record of 29-6 and received the 2006 All-Conference Award in addition to being named SoCon Wrestler of the Year and an Academic All-American.
The native of Randolph, N.J., was a four-time SoCon finalist, three-time NCAA qualifier, four-year letterman and team captain, and four-time recipient of the Most Falls Award. He was also a three-time All-Academy Champion as well as the 2006 All-Academy Ken Shelton Outstanding Wrestler Award winner. Earlier in his career, Markey received The Citadel Outstanding Wrestler Award in 2003, the 2002 Wrestling Freshman of the Year award, and the 2002 Leadership Award.
Markey graduated with a degree in business administration from The Citadel in 2005. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration at The Citadel’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
