Leave it to a fast-moving multi-tasker like Rhonda Revelle to find four big deals to celebrate in one fell swoop. In year No. 20 as Nebraska’s record-setting head softball coach, Revelle has her hand in all four pivotal moments as the Huskers host their last three-game home series of the regular season against Wisconsin Friday and Saturday at Bowlin Stadium.

FIRST, Nebraska is calling Friday’s doubleheader (beginning at 5 p.m.) “Strike Out Cancer Day”, a cause near and dear to the heart of Revelle, a true servant leader, whose team will wear pink uniforms to show their support for the fight against breast cancer and would appreciate Husker fans following suit.

SECOND, Revelle is excited that her team is hosting the “World’s Largest Softball Tailgate” before Saturday’s 1 p.m. first-pitch.

THIRD, following the game, Nebraska’s six seniors – Madison Drake, Ashley Guile, Ashley Hagemann, Nikki Haget, Haley Workman and Kirby Wright – will be honored in a postgame on-the-field ceremony.

FOURTH is a minor little thing: Nebraska is 13-0 at home this season and has a 16-game home winning streak dating back to the 2011 season. It’s the nation’s longest winning streak and best in Bowlin Stadium history.

Where else but Nebraska can you promote the nation’s longest winning streak with the world’s largest softball tailgate? Actually, the tailgate has been a season-long priority for Revelle, who’s always looking to give something back to loyal fans who’ve given their support to the Huskers. In the best deal of the season, Saturday’s events will be completely free for all fans.

The first 2,012 fans walking into the tailgate to celebrate the 2012 season finale will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips and one Pepsi product. Waiting in the on-deck circle are giveaways, inflatables and other activities designed to be fun. Revelle, in fact, thinks fans will be surprised how much fun it is to picnic for free while watching Nebraska take batting practice followed by pregame warm ups.

Admission to Saturday’s tailgate and game is free, begging this question: Who can pass up a deal like that?
