UALR senior Megan Vaughn
shot an even-par 72 on the second day of the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Golf Championships on Tuesday and is tied for second place after two rounds. The Lake Village, Ark.-native is at one-under par 143 through 36 holes on the par-72, 6,264-yard Fighting Joe Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, and heads into Wednesday's final round two-shots back of the current leader.
Florida International's Katie Mundy leads the 55-player field with a three-under par 141 total (69-72), followed closely by Vaughn (71-72) and Denver's Tonje Daffinrud (71-72). DU's Rachael Watton is in fourth place at even-par 144 (71-73).
In search of its ninth-consecutive conference championship, Denver posted a five-over par 293 in the second round and takes a comfortable 17-stroke lead into the final round. The Pioneers are at five-over par 581 (288-293) through 36 holes, followed by Middle Tennessee (295-303 - 598) and FIU (298-305 - 603).
UALR is in fifth place with a 37-over par 613 total after carding a 311 team score on Tuesday. Senior Britny Brauburger is second on the team and 22nd on the individual leader board at 12-over par 156 (76-80), followed by sophomore Brynn Donovan at 13-over par 157 (80-77).
