Nominee for Player of the Week

Ashley Langoni, LF, Sr., Pueblo, Colorado
Langoni reached base during 10-of-14 plate appearances, including her first eight efforts during the Arkansas sparked by a 2-for-2 effort with two runs scored and two RBIs during the middle game of the series. She finished the week with a .556 batting average, four runs scored, and stole two bases. With LSU trailing 2-1 during the series finale, Langoni laced a leadoff single to spark a two-run sixth inning. The Tigers have won a SEC-leading 11 straight games.

Nominee for Pitcher of the Week

Rachele Fico, P, Jr., Oxford, Connecticut
Fico, who entered the week with the second-best ERA in the nation, posted two more wins to her ledger and has won her last six decisions. She garnered 18 strikeouts versus two walks as LSU extended the SEC's best winning streak to 11 games. The junior right-hander racked up a season-high 11 strikeouts in the series opener versus Arkansas and moved into sole possession of seventh place on LSU's program list. The 1-0 win gave LSU a program-record five consecutive SEC shutouts. Outside a pair of solo homers during the series finale, Fico retired 21 of 24 batters faced as the Razorbacks were unable to put a runner to second base.

Nominee for Freshman of the Week

A.J. Andrews, CF, Fr., Oldsmar, Florida
Andrews produced a pair of multi-hit games and drove home two RBIs as LSU completed another 4-0 week en route to a series sweep of Arkansas. Her bunt single during the seventh inning of the series opener set up the game's only run. She has hit safely in seven of her last 11 outings.

Notes on the Tigers
LSU picked up its second straight 4-0 week, extended the SEC's longest winning streak to 11 games and has won 24 of its last 28 games dating back to February 19. The sweep of Arkansas allowed the Tigers to stay even with Alabama in the loss column at the top of the SEC Western Division standings. LSU's 10-1 SEC start is the program's best since the 2000 season when the Tigers opened conference play with a 13-1 mark en route to their second of a SEC-leading five regular season championships. For the season, LSU has posted an impressive 150-26 advantage during its 24 wins fueled by 17 shutouts. The Tigers won 1-0 walk-off style during the Arkansas opener and set a new program record with their fifth straight SEC shutout. Rachele Fico garnered a season-high 11 strikeouts and didn't allow a Razorback runner to reach third base. In the process, she passed Ashley Lewis (1999-2001) for seventh place on LSU's all-time list. The Tigers exploded for 11 hits during a 9-1 rout in the middle game of the series. A.J. Andrews, Ashley Langoni and Juliana Santos each posted multi-hit and multi-RBI performances. In the circle, Brittany Mack won her ninth consecutive decision and moved to 12-4 on the season. LSU trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the 6th inning in the series finale. Langoni, Santos and Allison Falcon pieced together one-out singles to set the table for Ashley Applegate, who laced a two-run single into centerfield to put LSU ahead. Fico nailed down the 3-2 victory with a routine 1-2-3 frame to improve to 13-4 for the season. With the exception of two solo home runs, the junior right-hander didn't allow an Arkansas runner to reach second base. LSU wraps up its season series with in-state foe Nicholls State [Wednesday - 6 p.m.] before traveling to face No. 2 Alabama [Friday - 7 p.m. televised by ESPNU; Saturday - 1:30 p.m.; Sunday - 1 p.m. televised by FSN]
