BATON ROUGE - Members of the reigning SEC Western Division champion LSU Soccer program kicked off their spring training schedule Thursday with their morning practice at the LSU Soccer Stadium as they prepare for the start of the 2012 spring exhibition season.
"Spring practice is a time for us to turn our focus more on the individual and personal development of our student-athletes as opposed to focusing on actual results on the field," said LSU head coach Brian Lee. "It is clear that our athletes have worked hard in our offseason strength and conditioning program with Coach (Ryan) Filo to this point. That will play dividends for us as we work to improve this spring."
The Tigers will open their spring exhibition season with back-to-back fixtures at the LSU Soccer Stadium as they play host to in-state rivals Nicholls State on Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. CT and Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. Admission is free to each of LSU's home games this spring.
The Tigers then make a return trip to Houston this spring to play Big 12 Conference opponent Texas Tech at the College Women's Cup hosted by the Albion Hurricanes Football Club on March 24 at 5 p.m.
LSU Soccer wraps up its spring season in the month of April with a tour of the state of Alabama. They are scheduled to take on the South Alabama Jaguars at The Cage in Mobile on April 11 at 7 p.m. before squaring off against the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach on April 14 at noon in a battle between SEC West rivals at the annual site of the SEC Tournament.
