DURHAM, N.C. - Junior forward Emmie Le Marchand was selected to the 2012 Preseason All-ACC Team as announced by ACC Commissioner John Swofford Friday morning. The 11 member squad was voted upon by the six league head coaches.
All-America honoree Le Marchand paced the Duke offense for the second straight season with 45 points in 2011. The Worcester, England, native scored 19 goals last season to rank as the 10th-highest single season total in the Duke record books. She also led the team by contributing seven assists. For her career, Le Marchand has tallied 27 goals total to rank 18th in the Duke career records as well.
As a team, Duke was predicted to finish fourth in the conference behind Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia.
The Blue Devils travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., Saturday to scrimmage with conference opponent Wake Forest. The official start to the 2012 season is August 24, when Duke faces Drexel in Philadelphia, Pa. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
