DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball junior Christina Vucich was named to the USA Beach Volleyball U23 Women’s Elite Ten Team following tryouts this past May. The Elite Ten team is comprised of 10 athletes per gender and age group who will be considered for international competition. Vucich is currently training for the opportunity to compete in FIVB U23 World Championships June 10-15 in Myslowice, Poland.
Vucich, a 6-4 setter/rightside hitter from Morrisville, N.C., has appeared in 23 matches over her first two campaigns with the Blue Devils. She has totaled 264 assists, averaging 5.39 per set, while also adding 40 kills and eight blocks.
Vucich is no stranger to beach volleyball, helping her team to a first-place finish at the 2011 Carolina Regional Junior Beach National Qualifier. The squad then placed third at the 2011 USAV National Beach Tour Championship in Chicago.
Vucich and the Blue Devils open the 2014 season with the Duke Invitational Aug. 29-30 in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
