DURHAM, N.C.-- The Duke women's soccer program has added another standout recruiting class this year under the direction of head coach Robbie Church. This spring and summer GoDuke.com is taking a closer look at each of the 2014 incoming freshmen.
The fifth of eight signees is Mary Elizabeth Bender. The defender guided St. Pius X Catholic H.S. to the 3AAA State Championship in 2013. A native of Milwaukee, Wisc., Bender attended Saint Pius X Catholic H.S., from freshman through junior years in Atlanta, Ga., before moving to Divine Savior Holy Angels H.S. Bender was a "Player to Watch" by TopDrawerSoccer.com. She is currently playing with FC Wisconsin Eclipse/ECNL.
