Blue Devils Earn Six-Seed at ACC Tournament

DURHAM, N.C. – The sixth-seeded Duke women’s tennis team will seek its 18th Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Thursday as it takes on 11th-seeded Virginia Tech Thursday at 3 p.m. in the opening round of the ACC Tournament as announced by the organization Monday. The squad earned a six-seed after finishing the regular season with a 14-8 overall record, including a 5-5 mark in ACC play.

Top-seeded North Carolina earned a first round bye after notching a 24-2 overall record and a 10-1 slate in conference play this season. Also receiving first round byes are No. 2 seed Clemson (14-6, 9-2), No. 3 seed Virginia (16-8, 9-2) and No. 4 seed Miami (17-5, 8-3). This is the first time since 2007 that a Blue Devils squad did not receive an opening round bye.

The Blue Devils kick off the ACC Championship Thursday against the Hokies, with the winner of that match advancing to the quarterfinal to play third-seeded Virginia Friday at 3 p.m.
