DURHAM, N.C. – Just days after returning from a trip to Florida in which the squad went 1-1 against Florida State and Miami, the Duke women’s tennis team fell two spots to No. 11 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as announced by the organization Tuesday. The Blue Devils own a 14-6 overall record this season, including a 5-3 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.
The ACC is represented by six teams in the top-25 of the poll, led by North Carolina who has held to top-position in the rankings for 10 consecutive weeks. In addition to North Carolina and Duke, Miami (No. 10), Clemson (No. 13), Virginia (No. 17) and Georgia Tech (No. 23) are in the top-25. The ACC and Southeastern Conference (SEC) both lead the country with six teams listed in the top-25, while the Pac-12 (5) and Big Ten (3) follow close behind.
Duke boasts four players listed in the singles rankings, led by junior Hanna Mar who was tabbed at No. 25. In addition to Mar, the Blue Devils are represented by sophomore Ester Goldfeld at No. 56, senior Mary Clayton at No. 101 and junior Marianne Jodoin at No. 107.
In the doubles rankings, three different tandems are listed for Duke, led by the duo of Clayton and Goldfeld at No. 14. The pair of Goldfeld and Mar are tabbed at No. 29, while the team of sophomore Annie Mulholland and Goldfeld were listed at No. 38.
The Blue Devils return to the court Wednesday, April 17 when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on top-ranked North Carolina at 3 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
