WILMINGTON, N.C. - The 12th-ranked Duke women's golf team carded a tied for team-best round of 303 on Saturday in the second round of the Landfall Tradition to move from 11th to third with 18 holes remaining at the 6,208-yard, par 72 Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
Duke owns rounds of 314 and 303 for a total of 617. Purdue holds the team lead with a 607, while Auburn (609), Duke (617), Ohio State (619), North Carolina (619), Notre Dame (620), Michigan State (620), Iowa State (621), South Carolina (621), Florida State (624) and N.C. State (624) round out the top 10. For the second straight round, Duke opened the day on the back nine.
Sophomore Alejandra Cangrejo continued her solid play as she turned in a 76 and is eighth overall with a 151. Fellow sophomore Laetitia Beck is also in the top 10 with back-to-back rounds of 76 for a total of 152.
Junior Courtney Ellenbogen carded a 76 on Saturday to move up to 26th overall with a total of 156. As she hit 11 fairways, seven greens and rolling 29 putts, junior Stacey Kim sank two birdies on her way to carding a team-best 75 in round two. A native of Columbus, Ga., Kim is now tied for 43rd overall with a 158.
Irene Jung rounded out the Blue Devil golfers with an 86 and is 89th with a 178.
The Blue Devils are playing this weekend without junior Lindy Duncan, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. A product of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Duncan is recovering from a foot injury.
Duke will tee off on Sunday in the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start.
