Lindy Duncan was named the Golfweek Player of the Week.DURHAM, N.C. - Following claiming the third victory of the season and fifth of her career this past weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate, Duke University junior
Duncan, who is out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., carded rounds of 71, 71 and 70 for a total of four-under-par, 212, over the 54 holes of action. She posted one eagle and 10 birdies in the tournament. Duncan helped lead Duke to a tie for first place finish through three days, but the Blue Devils lost to Tennessee in a playoff for the team title.
With her five career wins, Duncan now ranks tied for sixth all-time in Duke history along with Blue Devil all-time greats Virada Nirapathpongporn and Candy Hannemann. Duncan, a two-time NGCA All-America, is currently the top-ranked golfer in the nation by the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
Duncan boasts a 70.81 stroke average on the season, which if the season were to conclude today would be a new school record. She owns seven top 10 finishes in seven tournaments, including four top five placements. Duncan owns a 68.71 stroke average in the final round this season.
The honor for Duncan is the third of the season as she also was named Golfweek Player of the Week following her victory in the fall at the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview and in February after winning the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
