DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off winning her first collegiate tournament, Duke freshman Yu Liu has vaulted into second in the Golfweek Sagarin Performance Index.  Liu, who is out of Beijing, China, has placed in the top 10 of each of five tournaments since joining the Blue Devils.

Other Duke golfers in the rankings include senior Laetitia Beck (12), sophomore Celine Boutier (15) and Sandy Choi (81).

Liu became just the third Blue Devil to open her career with top 10 finishes in her first five collegiate tournaments – Amanda Blumenherst and Lindy Duncan.  In her five tournaments, Liu has registered a 71.40 stroke average and finished no lower than third over the last three events.

Over the weekend, Liu carded the win as she finished 54 holes in a tie with LSU’s Caroline Nistrup with a three-day total of 211.  Liu won the first playoff hole with a birdie to collect the win.

Beck, a product of Caesarea, Israel, is ranked 12th nationally with a 72.33 stroke average to go along with three top 10 finishes.  She has not finished lower than 22nd in any of the six tournaments played.

Currently ranked 15th nationally, Boutier owns a 72.44 stroke average on the year and has placed in the top 20 of five tournaments.  Boutier, who is from Montrouge, France, has placed in the top 12 in each of her last four tournaments, while totaling a 71.92 stroke average.

A native of San Diego, Calif., Choi is listed 81st in the rankings, but has not competed for the Blue Devils since placing tied 19th at the Landfall Tradition in October.  She has totaled a 74.17 stroke average with one top 20 finish.

As a team, Duke is ranked third nationally with two victories at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and the Tar Heel Invitational.  It marks the third straight year the Blue Devils have won at least two tournaments in a season.    Duke registered a 10-stroke victory over the weekend at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate as the Blue Devils carded rounds of 284, 291 and 287 to finish with a 10-over-par, 862.

Duke will next compete in the Bryan National Collegiate from March 28-30 at the Champions Course at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.
