Duke Track & Field Members Receive Degrees

DURHAM, N.C. – A total of 28 members of Duke’s track and field team, including 13 from the women’s team and 14 from the men’s team, earned degrees from the University Sunday, May 11. Twenty four student-athletes received undergraduate degrees while three completed graduate programs.

Receiving undergraduate degrees for the men’s team were Kyler Shumway (Psychology), Justin Amezquita (Mechanical Engineering), Tanner Anderson (Biology), Brian Atkinson (Biology), Christian Britto (Economics), Phil Fairleigh (Political Science), Clint McKelvey (Mechanical Engineering), Anthony Pollizzi (Psychology), Lucas Talavan-Becker (Mechanical Engineering), Ben Raskin (History), Marcus Wright (Cultural Anthropology), Michael Krone (Engineering), Curtis Beach (Psychology) and Austin Gamble (Art and Visual Studies).

For the women’s team, Ashley Berry (Biology), Erica Brand (Public Policy Studies), Rebecca Craigie (Environment), Hannah Goranson (Public Policy Studies), Dana Morin (Biology), Destiny Roseman (Biology), Miray Seward (Psychology), Jessie Rubin (Political Science), Brianna Welch (Public Policy Studies), Colette Whitney (Neuroscience) and Madeline Morgan (Evolutionary Anthropology) accepted their undergraduate degrees.

Three student-athletes also earned graduate degrees, including Mike Moverman (Management Studies), Juliet Bottorff (Management Studies) and Audrey Huth (Management Studies.)

The 27 degree-earning student-athletes from Duke’s track and field team played an integral role in the continued success of the program during their time at the University. The Duke women’s track and field team saw one of its highest finishes in school history at this year’s ACC Indoor Championship, placing second overall, while the men’s team has consistently placed in the top half of the conference at the ACC meet during the seniors’ tenures.
