DURHAM, N.C. - Seventeen Blue Devils, ten men and seven women, were named to the All-ACC Academic Team as announced by the conference office today. Duke’s total number of honorees led the conference with Florida State in a close second with sixteen. To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.
The Duke men's squad placed a conference-high ten individuals on the All-ACC Academic Team, including redshirt junior Curtis Beach and junior Tanner Anderson, who are three-time honorees, and junior Justin Amezquita, a two-time award winner. Seniors James Kostelnik, Mike Moverman and Marcus Wright, junior Brian Atkinson, sophomores Nate McClafferty and Shaun Thompson and freshman Michael Foley were also named to the team.
The women's squad placed the second highest number of individuals to the academic team with seven, while Florida State led the conference with ten on the list. Redshirt senior Cydney Ross is a three-time recipient of the award while redshirt junior Michelle Anumba is a two-time honoree. Senior Emily Mattoon, sophomores Elizabeth Kerpon and Lauren Hansson, redshirt freshman Karli Johonnot and freshman Anima Banks earned the award for the first time in their collegiate careers.
