DURHAM, N.C. – Through the generosity of alumni, family and friends, the Duke women’s lacrosse program recently completed a renovation to its locker room facility. The project included the installation of wooden, lacrosse-specific lockers and new sound and lighting systems, as well as new carpet and interior paint.

“On behalf of our players and staff, we are grateful for the generous efforts of our Duke Lacrosse family which afforded us the opportunity to renovate our locker room space,” said head coach Kerstin Kimel. “In particular, we appreciate that so many of our alumni stepped forward to contribute to our first major capital project. They know better than anyone how important this space is to our team, and we thank them for helping to create a fantastic home for our student-athletes.”

The new wooden lockers feature storage space for helmets, goggles, sticks and shoes as well as practice gear and personal items, which can be safely secured in a combination locker. Each locker is adorned with the player’s name plate, and many lockers also bear plaques honoring family and alumni who have contributed to the capital project.

The locker room space is branded with a Duke logo on the new carpet and with team values and inspirational quotes that have been painted all along the interior. The existing lighting system was upgraded with new track lighting and spot lights, while a new sound system and speakers were also added to amp up the Blue Devils’ pre-game preparations. A new television was installed at the end of the locker room for the team's use during down time.
