DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University junior Taylor Trimble has been added to the U.S. women’s national lacrosse team roster for the upcoming Stars and Stripes event, which will be held Oct. 12 at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Md., and Oct. 13 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.
Trimble is one of four additions to the Team USA roster following the recent announcement of Gina Oliver, Megan Huether and Sarah Albrecht’s retirement from the squad. Huether, a 2006 graduate of Duke, was a first team All-American in the net and remains the Blue Devils’ all-time leader in career saves (646) and wins (60). She helped guide the U.S. national team to Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) world titles in 2009 and 2013.
A midfielder from Rosemont, Pa., Trimble previously played with the U.S. Under-19 squad, leading the team to the gold medal at the 2011 Under-19 World Championships in Hannover, Germany. One of the captains of that team, Trimble received All-World distinction following a 14-11 win in the finals over Australia.
The Duke midfielder was an All-ACC and second team IWLCA All-South Region team member in 2013 while ranking second on the team in goals (37) and draw controls (45). She started all 20 games on the spring, concluding the season with at least one point in each of the Blue Devils’ final 15 games. Heading into her third season, Trimble ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in career points (t-25th, 72), career goals (t-19th, 65) and career draw controls (20th, 65).
At Stars and Stripes, Team USA will face four college squads in two days, taking on Navy and Georgetown on Oct. 12 before playing Stanford and Towson the following day. Admission to the games is free throughout the weekend.
