DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel has announced the beginning of a renovation project on the Blue Devils’ locker room, to be completed Aug. 22, prior to start of the 2013-14 academic year.

The construction project includes the addition of new lockers, locker name plates, carpet and lights to the Blue Devils’ team locker room. Renovations will be made to the ceiling panels and new interior paint will also be applied.

“We are so grateful for the generous support of our friends, families and alumni who have helped this project come to fruition,” Kimel said. “Our players are very much looking forward to their return in August and moving into what will be a fantastic space for the team to work from for years to come.”

The Blue Devils are coming off of their ninth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2013 and finished the spring with a 14-6 ledger. Ranked seventh in the final national poll conducted by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, Duke was selected to the NCAA Tournament field for the 16th straight year under Kimel’s direction.

Duke will return nine starters in 2014, including IWLCA All-Americans Kelsey Duryea and Taylor Virden, while welcoming another talented recruiting class to the program.

Check back to later this summer for a complete look at the finished locker room project.
