OSHAWA, ONTARIO – Former Duke women’s lacrosse standouts Sarah Bullard and Megan Huether helped the U.S. women’s national team notch a 17-7 victory over England to open play at the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship Thursday evening. Following the first day of action, Team USA is atop the Pool A standings with a 1-0 record in the tournament.

Bullard tallied a goal in the first half against England, putting the U.S. ahead by 13-2 at the half, and also totaled two ground balls, one draw control and two caused turnovers in the contest. Meanwhile, Huether took over in the net during the second period, tallying two saves.

Up next, Team USA will face Wales Saturday, July 13 at 4:30 p.m. EST as the squad continues pool play at the World Cup.
