DURHAM, N.C. - Duke women's lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel has announced the team's schedule for the 2013 season, which features five contests against 2012 NCAA Tournament teams, including two of last year's national semifinalists.

The Blue Devils are slated to host nine games at Koskinen Stadium during the upcoming campaign, highlighted by a matchup against Vanderbilt Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m., which will be broadcast on ESPN3. Duke will also play a challenging road schedule in 2013 with seven-time national champion Northwestern and 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference champion Maryland among the squad's seven road opponents.

"Our 2013 schedule is nothing short of demanding and exciting which is exactly what we strive for year in and year out," Kimel said. "As always, our ACC opponents will provide our most distinguished competition and non-conference rivals such as Georgetown, Northwestern and Dartmouth will be extremely challenging as well."

The season kicks off with a four-game homestand from Feb. 8-17, as the Blue Devils start the year with ACC opponent Virginia Tech Friday, Feb. 8. The team will face the Presbyterian Blue Hose for the first time in program history Sunday, Feb. 10, followed by a home contest against the Richmond Spiders Friday, Feb. 15. Duke then entertains Colonial Athletic Association opponent William & Mary Sunday, Feb. 17 before heading to College Park, Md., to face the Terrapins Sunday, Feb. 24. The two ACC squads will meet for the 11th time in the last six seasons and the 24th time overall.

Duke returns home Saturday, March 2 to tangle with the Vanderbilt Commodores at 2 p.m. on ESPN3. The Blue Devils then travel to Washington, D.C., to take on Georgetown Saturday, March 9. Kimel's squad has won eight of the last nine matchups with the Hoyas and will look to continue that success when the two teams face off for the 18th consecutive season.

A visit to Jacksonville Wednesday, March 13 marks the first meeting in program history with the Dolphins. Duke will then host Dartmouth Sunday, March 17 before closing out the month with a trip to Virginia Saturday, March 23 and a home contest against North Carolina Thursday, March 28 at 7 p.m.

The Blue Devils embark on a three-game road swing to start the month of April, beginning with a trip to Boston College Saturday, April 6. The squad will then battle reigning national champion Northwestern for the 10th straight season when it travels to Evanston, Ill., Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. CST. A contest at nearby Davidson Wednesday, April 17 rounds out the road trip.

Home games against Ohio State Saturday, April 20 and Boston University Saturday, May 4 close out the Blue Devils' regular season schedule. Duke will also make the short drive to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the 2013 ACC Tournament Thursday-Sunday, April 25-28.

"We anticipate new adventures this year in opponents like Jacksonville and Ohio State-both are excellent additions to our schedule," Kimel said. "We look forward to this competitive slate and cannot wait for the start of pre-season in January."

The Blue Devils will be in pursuit of the program's 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013 after advancing to the national quarterfinals a season ago. Duke returns 24 letterwinners from last year's 12-7 team, which concluded the 2012 campaign ranked sixth in the nation.
