PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's track and field team was named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team, according to an announcement by the USTFCCCA Thursday. The Braves owned the top grade point average in the Missouri Valley Conference and ranked seventh among NCAA Division I men's track and field teams with a 3.37 cumulative grade point average.
Bradley had eight individuals named to the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll following the 2012 Spring semester, including two team members with perfect 4.0 semester GPA's. The Braves were one of just three Missouri Valley Conference men's teams to honor and led the conference with a 3.37 grade point average. Drake (3.28) and Wichita State (3.14) were also among the 85 NCAA Division I men's track and field teams to earn the distinction.
Stanford boasted the top GPA in the nation at 3.49 with Duke in second at 3.46. Tulsa and Chattanooga tied for third in the country at 3.45.
The USTFCCCA honors individuals and teams for their academic and athletic accomplishments during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. Teams must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average to earn All-Academic Team honors.
