After recording her first-career goal and assist in the Griffs’ 2-1 win over Quinnipiac, freshman midfielder Kathleen Lawver was tabbed as the MAAC Rookie of the Week by the conference on Monday.

The Stevens, Pa. native recorded an assist on sophomore forward Brittany Krause’s game-tying goal, after she played a long through ball through a pair of Bobcats’ defenders. Lawver then scored the eventual game-winner in the 52nd minute for the Griffs on a shot from 18 yards out.

The award is a first for Lawver, who has played in five contests this season with one start after missing time due to injury.

Lawver and the Griffs return to action on Saturday in the team’s final regular-season contest. Canisius hosts Saint Peter’s at 1 p.m.
