Old Dominion University women's soccer head coach Joe Pereira announced the hiring of Stacey Matthiessen as an assistant coach. "Stacey is a great addition to our coaching staff. Her goalkeeping and recruiting experience along with her other strengths as a coach is a great fit to our staff and the program's needs," Pereira said. "We are very excited and looking forward to getting started this fall".

Matthieson came to ODU after spending the past three seasons at Indiana University, working mainly with the goalkeepers.

Prior to her stay with the Hoosiers, Matthieson she enjoyed a standout career at UT Chattanooga and playing professionally for the W-League's Arizona Heatwave. After her stint with the Heatwave, she served two years as a volunteer assistant coach at Chattanooga.

In her four-year career at UTC, she played in 90 games, starting 85, and set school records for wins (30) and shutouts (15). She also finished second in school history with 356 saves and a 1.41 goals against average.

She was a standout both on and off the field at UTC. She earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors as a senior after finishing fourth in the nation in saves per game. The San Bernardino native was also named team captain in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and she excelled in the classroom, being named to the Dean's List in each of her four years and earning a spot on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll all four years.
