Assistant coach Ashley Waters (Kellogg) is entering her fifth season as a member of the ODU women's lacrosse coaching staff. A former Old Dominion lacrosse standout, Waters joined the Lady Monarchs coaching staff in September 2011.
Waters helped guide the 2016 Lady Monarchs to the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance after the team won the Atlantic Sun Championship. ODU won a program-record 16 games in 2016, winning the program's first conference tournament title since 1995.
The program completed its first season in the Atlantic-Sun Conference in 2015, a year in which ODU was the regular season runners-up and made its first conference tournament since 2009. The Monarchs went 13-5 overall, which marked the most wins in a season since ODU went 13-5 in 2002, and posted a 6-1 mark in league play. The Monarchs also tied the program record for goals in a game twice this season, scoring 24 against Gardner-Webb (24-1) and Howard (24-6).
In her third season, ODU won games against future conference opponent Stetson, St. Joseph's and a thrilling comeback win against Liberty.
In her second season, ODU defeated rival William & Mary in comeback fashion for the second straight season and saw three Lady Monarchs earn All-CAA accolades: Alexandra Burns (Second Team All-CAA), Christina Rea (Second Team All-CAA) and Rachel Shaw (All-CAA Rookie Team).
In her first season, she helped guide the Lady Monarchs to their first ever win over Louisville and their first win over rival William & Mary since 2007. She also helped coach a pair of all-conference players in senior midfielder Lisa Bernardini (First Team All-CAA) and senior defender Hannah McBee (Second Team All-CAA)
Waters was a four-year starter from 2007-10, and ranks eighth in career points with 152 and fourth in goals with 128. She was a two-time All-CAA performer as well. She earned her masters degree in sport management from ODU in 2011 and originally hails from Downingtown, Pa. Her younger sister, Casey, played lacrosse at Hofstra.
