Named First Team All-State by VaSID at 157 pounds...Defeated three NCAA qualifiers throughout the season... Was Named CAA Wrestler of the Week in consecutive weeks in late January... Recorded a team-high 13 major decisions and was fourth in NCAA Division I for most major decisions... Had four technical falls on the year... Placed second at the Hokie Open.
2009-10: Finished freshman season with 23-8 record, fourth most wins on the team... Went 19-4 in tournament action and was 3-3 against CAA opponents... Had five pins and three major decisions on the year... Took first place at Hokie Open and seventh at Southern Scuffle... Defeated five wrestlers that qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Prep: Ranked in the top five in three separate publications and is one of two recruits ranked in InterMat's Top 100, a gauge of the best high school wrestlers in the nation regardless of weight class... Ranks 14th in the Top 100 after finishing second at the NHSCA Junior Nationals in 2009... Two-time Iowa state champion... Won the Class 3-A 152-pound state championship for Roosevelt HS as a junior in 2008 and won at 160-pounds as a senior... Senior National runner-up at 160-pounds.
