SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team captured an exciting 4-3 road win on Saturday against No. 68 San Diego to conclude the regular season. After dropping the doubles point, the Gaels stormed back in singles play to win on four of six courts to earn the win.

No. 42 Saint Mary's improves to 14-6 overall this season and 7-1 in West Coast Conference play, while the Toreros dropped to 10-9 this season and 6-2 in conference play. The win also clinches the No. 2 seed for the Gaels at the WCC Championships next week.

San Diego stormed out to a quick 1-0 lead after winning on all three doubles courts. The sophomore duo of Jade Frampton and Jenny Jullien played the toughest match on court one, but fell 9-7 to Juliette Coupez and Laura Claus.

The Toreros added to their lead in singles play with a win on court three to go up 2-0. SMC then leveled the match with wins on the top two courts. No. 105 Catherine Isip defeated Stephanie Hoffpauir on court two, 6-3, 6-3, before No. 91 Jullien topped Coupez 7-6, 7-5.

The Gaels took a 3-2 lead when Anna Chkhikvishvili won a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 match over No. 112 Anna Depenau at the No. 4 spot. After USD tied the match on court five, Carla Lindlar clinched the match at the No. 6 spot, defeating Marite Raygada 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.
