MORAGA, Calif. -- For roughly 20 years the Saint Mary's intercollegiate golf team has enjoyed the use of Moraga Country Club as one of its primary home training courses.
Now, due to a new partnership between the College and MCC, Gaels golfers will be able to fine-tune their games and continue the program's rise up the national rankings.
Recently, MCC renovated its training facility that featured a complete renovation of its driving range, improved drainage and irrigation, the addition of new sand traps and new grass.
Frank Melon, the MCC's executive director remarked that club members enjoyed its relationship with Saint Mary's.
"We are very proud to have the students practice here," Melon told the Weekly. "The members enjoy seeing them around, the kids are always very polite when the come here and we follow their results."
Saint Mary's opens its spring season Feb. 27-28 at the University of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif. The Gaels enjoyed top-7 finishes in all five of their fall tournaments and brought home the team championship at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic and the Firestone Invitational.
