BUFFALO, N.Y. - Towson senior divers Jeanne Ball and Caroline Baker competed in the one-meter dive at the NCAA Zone 'A' Regional at the University of Buffalo Friday among 44 competing student-athletes.
Both Ball and Baker earned spots in the preliminaries. Ball finished the event with 218.15 points, while Baker finished with 198.85 points.
"Our girls don't get to go up against this type of high-level competition during the dual meet season, so it's tough," Towson Diving Coach Maureen Mead said. "It can be a bit intimidating."
Both Ball and Baker will compete Saturday in the three-meter event, and Mead said she is expecting her divers to be more relaxed.
"You cannot dive well when you are intimidated," Mead said. "I think tomorrow they should feel more comfortable in their own skin and have fun with it. That should lead to better results."
