TOWSON, Md. - The Tigers lost a close 4-3 match to Delaware Friday at the Towson Center Tennis Courts in the team's second of three Colonial Athletic Association matches this week.

"This is close as we've been to Delaware in a long time," Towson Head Coach Doug Neagle said. "We still need to improve our doubles play, however. If we can start to win some doubles points, that will take some of the pressure off of us in singles play."

The Tigers (11-11, 2-3 CAA) earned three singles victories against Delaware behind Ayana Dow, Andrea Samlin and Ariel Burke

Dow defeated Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom 6-4 in the first set before Dow's Swedish-born opponent retired with a toe injury in the second set.

Samlin defeated Kim Milla in straight sets 6-4 and 6-1, while Burke defeated Olivia Heim 6-3 and 6-1.

Delaware won two of three doubles matches and had its top three singles players each earn a victory to seal the win.

The Tigers host conference rival James Madison Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
