WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington defeated the Tiger women’s tennis team 7-0 on Friday afternoon.

The Colonials (12-6) took an early lead in the match with a sweep of the doubles action from the Tigers (8-6). Mimi Hamling and Zoe Krohn battled for a hard fought 8-4 win over Ayana Dow and Nani Lizana at first doubles. In second doubles action it was Isabella Escobar and Leah Pascarella earning an 8-1 victory over Ioana Aprodu and Ariel Burke. George Washington completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory at third doubles as Jacqueline Corba and Meg Tyner defeated Andrea Samlin and Nisha Shah.

At first singles, Corba posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Aandria Carr. Lizana fell to Pascarella at second singles by a 6-0, 6-2 margin. Julia Blakeley had to battle for a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Shah at third singles. Hamling posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Aprodu at fourth singles. At fifth singles, Escobar defeated Samlin, 6-1, 6-3.The sixth singles proved to be a battle as Tyner defeated Dow, 6-1, 7-5.

Towson, returns home to host Longwood on Sunday, Apr. 1 at the Towson Center Tennis Courts at 10 a.m.
