TOWSON, Md. - The Tiger track and field team returns to action Saturday at the Bucknell Team Challenge for a meet with seven other competing schools beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Towson is coming off a victory in the Johns Hopkins-Loyola Invitational, in which the Tigers scored 274.50 points while defeating the two local Baltimore schools who hosted the meet.

"I like where we are at, but the rest of the schools in our conference are running really well," Towson Head Coach Roger Erricker said. "There are some performances that we'd like to have some upgrades in. We haven't hit our peak yet."

Erricker mentioned the middle distance duo of senior Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue and freshman Kara Bucaro as two runners who he expects to improve and continue to post strong results. Last week, Gilmartin-Donohue won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:43.15, while Bucaro was part of a Towson relay team that broke the school record in the 1,600-meter sprint relay record.

Bucaro and Desiree Vaughn, Kiera Joyner and Evan Campbell finished with a time of 4:08.83 and won the event by over 15 seconds.

Campbell, freshman Alexis Appezzato and senior Shianna Smith all won events for the Tigers in the meet.

Saturday, the Tigers will be one of two schools from the state of Maryland competing in the meet. Mount St. Mary's will also be in attendance at Bucknell. The six other schools in the field are from Pennsylvania.
