ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Towson registered three event victories Saturday en route to a fourth-place finish at the Navy Invitational at Ingram Field. Navy took home the team title with 241 points, while Delaware finished second and Maryland-Eastern Shore third. The Tigers had 111 points in the meet.

Freshmen Alexis Appezzato and Emily Wenger each posted strong performances for the second consecutive meet, both winning events Saturday.

Appezzato won the javelin with a throw of 134' 8", earning 10 points for Towson in the event. Her throw was over 13 feet longer than the second-place finisher, Delaware's Jillian Seamon.

Wenger won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.82.

"The conditions weren't the best, but Emily ran almost a second faster than she did in our last meet," Towson Head Coach Roger Erricker said. "Emily's performance really sticks out. Alexis won by a wide margin and that was very encouraging."

Towson's Katie Salke took first-place in the triple jump with a result of 35' 10.50" and also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.

The Tigers had two of the top four finishers in the 100-meter hurdles as Kamilah Browne finished one place ahead of Salke for third.

Towson senior thrower Shianna Smith set a personal record in the hammer throw with a 165' 01" finish and placed third in the event for the Tigers.

The Tigers will host the Towson Invitational March 31 beginning at 10 a.m.
