PRINCETON, N.J. – The Tigers traveled to Princeton University Saturday, where they competed in the New Year’s Invitational at Jadwin Gym.
Though the meet was non-scoring, Towson received some notable performances from freshman Kara Bucaro in the 1,000-meter run. Bucaro was impressive, finishing in third place with a time of 3:06.16, while Elizabeth Shaw also finished in sixth place in the event for Towson.
Shannel Shivers and Shianna Smith also performed well for the Tigers in the 20-lb. weight throw event, as both posted top-five finishes. Smith was first with her toss of 17.41 meters, while Shivers came in fifth with a throw of 16.19 meters.
Shivers also posted a third place finish in the shot put with a 12.66-meter result.
Ashley Dabney was solid in the long jump with a 5-05.75 for the Tigers, finishing third in the event.
“There were some good performances, but I was disappointed in some of our races, too,” Towson Coach Roger Erricker said. “I thought we had a letdown in some of our races. It was tough competing against some very good teams.”
The Tigers are done competing for the semester and will return to the track Jan. 21 when the team travels to Bucknell University for the Gulden Invitational.
