FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A trio of Tiger senior gymnasts, Kacy Catanzaro, Avis Hixon and Lindsay Poplaski, will be competing at the NCAA Regional Championship Meet at the University of Arkansas on Saturday night, April 7.

All three Tigers will be competing as individuals. Catanzaro and Poplaski will be competing as all-around performers while Hixon is competing on floor exercise.

“We are very happy that Kacy, Lindsay and Avis will represent Towson University at the NCAA regional meet,” says Coach Vicki Chliszczyk, who was named as the ECAC Coach of the Year for the second time. “This is a great opportunity for them.”

The ECAC Gymnast of the Year, Catanzaro earned a berth at the Southeast regional meet with a 39.12 Regional Qualifying Score (R.Q.S.). She won the ECAC championships on vault and bars. She set an ECAC record while winning the vault title with a 9.975 score. On bars, she earned a 9.85 score to tie for first place. A five-time selection as ECAC Gymnast of the Week, she tied for fourth place in the all-around at the ECAC Meet.

Catanzaro, who earned a career high 39.40 all-around score at George Washington in the final meet of the regular season, will be competing with third-ranked UCLA in the regional meet. She is the top-seeded individual all-around and will have an advantage of competing with the regional's number one seed.

Poplaski, who finished third in the all-around at the ECAC Championship Meet, qualified for the NCAA regional meet with a 38.875 R.Q.S. A two-time selection as ECAC Gymnast of the Week, she will compete with host Arkansas at the regional meet. Poplaski, who had a career high 39.00 all-around score at the ECAC Meet, is the second-seeded all-around performer at the regional meet behind Catanzaro.

Hixon, who qualified for the regional meet for the third year in a row, will be an individual competitor on floor exercise with a 9.835 R.Q.S. She will be part of the University of Maryland’s rotation.

Six teams will be competing for the regional title in Fayetteville. In addition to UCLA, Arkansas and Maryland, Boise State, Missouri and New Hampshire have also qualified. Catanzaro and Poplaski are two of the five individual all-arounds competing at the meet.

In addition, Kristin Milardo and Jess Pritchard of William and Mary will compete, along with Stephanie Stoicovy of George Washington.

In additional to Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, North Carolina State, Utah and Washington will serve as regional host sites.

The top 36 teams in the nation were selected to compete at regional meets on April 7.

The NCAA Championship meet will be held in Duluth, Ga. from April 20-22.
