Coming off their stunning success last season when the Tigers were the most improved team in the nation, Coach Rob Ambrose and his team are adjusting to their new status in college football and the high expectations that accompany last season's success.
Last season, the Tigers posted a 9-3 record and won their first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship with a 7-1 CAA record. Towson finished the season as the ninth-ranked team in NCAA FCS. Their success came as a surprise to many because the Tigers had been picked to finish last in the CAA and they were coming off three straight last place finishes in the CAA. In the 2010 season, Towson was 1-10 overall and 0-8 in the CAA. The Tigers improved their win total by eight-games from the 2010 to 2011 season.
Named as the CAA preseason favorites, the Tigers have 39 returning letter winners, including eight starters on offense and defense, on their roster. There are also nine transfer students and 22 red-shirt freshmen competing for playing time.
Season tickets for Towson University football are on sale now by calling the Athletics Ticket Office at 1-855-TU-TIGER or going online to TowsonTigers.com. Season ticket packages begin at $55 per seat.
